We Stay Close by Borsi, Explained: A Deep House Single That Never Builds to a Peak

An Austrian Producer Builds a Short Deep House Track on Violin, Handpan and Restraint

We Stay Close by Borsi runs two minutes and 56 seconds, and it never stops for a big drop. Borsi, the project of Austrian producer Boris Mikula, uses that time to keep the groove moving. A violin, a handpan and a soft vocal hook sit on top. The single came out on 23 January 2026 on his own label, Borsi Music.

Borsi’s We Stay Close sits in the playlist below, among this desk’s vocal dance and tropical house picks. All of the coverage to date is on Borsi’s artist profile. The single reached ElectronicMusic.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news sites. Press play first, then read on for why the missing drop works.

Organic Melodic House Puts Violin and Handpan Back on the Floor With We Stay Close by Borsi

There is a wave in house music that has moved away from the build-and-release formula. Producers in its melodic and organic corners bring acoustic instruments onto the floor. Instead of spiking the arrangement every 16 bars, they let it breathe.

We Stay Close belongs to that wave. As Karl Is My Unkle noted, it opens on a riser and an atmospheric guitar melody. Then a violin line and vocal phrases built on the title take over the top end. Swiispa picked out the violin as the standout element, and heard a handpan adding an earthy, played feel to the groove.

The engineering choice underneath is restraint. Borsi told Karl Is My Unkle that he avoids clichés and focuses on continuity, groove and control rather than impact. Extravafrench made the same point from the floor. There, the groove settles patiently and the melodic bass moves without showing off. Meanwhile, the percussion stays warm enough to push a body forward without forcing it.

Where Borsi Fits

That puts Borsi in a particular place in the wave. The track is not built for the peak of a set. Instead, it works in the transitions: the early hour before the room fills, or the late stretch when the system can drop a level. It also works for the drive home afterwards.

The theme also fits the format. We Stay Close is about friendship that survives distance, time and change, and the arrangement carries that idea without a lyric sheet. The vocals stay fragmentary, closer to texture than narrative. As a result, the message comes through the tone rather than the words.

Borsi works independently and quickly. Since We Stay Close, he has released Friends Don’t Fade in March and Solid Ground in April 2026. Then, in July, he returned to this track with We Stay Close (Deep Motion Mix). Apple Music files the whole run under house, and the friendship thread keeps returning.

Klangkarussell, Ben Böhmer and Monolink Map the Neighbourhood Around We Stay Close by Borsi

For a start, the nearest Austrian reference is Klangkarussell. The Salzburg duo took Sonnentanz across Europe in 2012 with a slow, melodic groove instead of a big drop. In doing so, the duo showed how far a patient arrangement could travel. We Stay Close works at an independent scale, but the instinct is similar.

Ben Böhmer is the closest match for the instrumentation. The German producer’s debut album, Breathing, arrived on Anjunadeep in 2019. Böhmer also performs his music live rather than DJing it, favouring gradual development over sudden peaks. Borsi’s violin and handpan do a similar job at a shorter running time, adding human movement inside a programmed frame.

Similarly, Monolink completes the map from the performance side. The project pairs live guitar and vocals with melodic electronic music, putting a person in front of the machines. The guitar melody that opens We Stay Close points in that direction, even if Borsi keeps the vocal back in the mix.

Who It Is For

We Stay Close is for deep house and vocal house listeners who prefer warmth to impact. It suits DJs looking for a short, melodic transition track. It also suits listeners who want electronic music for the drive or the early morning as much as the club.

The track has a natural home in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, where melodic house has a deep audience. Independent outlets across Europe have already picked it up, from New Indie Radar in Germany to Extravafrench in France and Frequenze Musicali in Italy.

From the ElectronicMusic.News Curator Team: “Most melodic house earns its peak by stripping the track back and slamming it in again. We Stay Close skips that move, so the violin and handpan have to carry the tension on their own, and that is where the track holds its character.”
