More than 65,000 people watched Swedish House Mafia at Ullevi in Gothenburg on 29 August. Another 40,000 saw an extra free concert at Götaplatsen. DJ Mag describes it as the biggest concert of their career, and the trio have now booked the same stadium four more times.
Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso will play Ullevi on 2, 3, 9 and 10 July 2027. According to DJ Mag, those four nights will be the group’s only live shows in Europe that year. General sale opens on Saturday 19 September.
Four Dates, One Stadium, No Tour
The schedule is simple. Two weekends, back to back: Friday 2 July, Saturday 3 July, Friday 9 July and Saturday 10 July, with every show starting at 19:30, according to the Got Event page for the shows. Live Nation is listed as the organiser.
The restriction is the story. The trio have confirmed there will be no European arena tour, no European stadium tour and no European festival appearances from Swedish House Mafia as a group in 2027. Anyone in Europe who wants to see the live show has to travel to Gothenburg.
The announcement was made in Gothenburg on 10 September. We Rave You, which calls Ullevi Sweden’s largest venue, reports that the four nights are being presented as one connected story rather than as stops on a wider tour.
The production is being built around that constraint. Got Event says the show will be created specifically for Ullevi, designed around the stadium and its atmosphere, and will not be performed anywhere else. That is a different model from a touring rig designed to fit a run of arenas: the staging only has to work in one building.
How the Ticketing Works
Pre-registration for tickets closed on the night of Monday 14 September, DJ Mag reports. General sale follows on Saturday 19 September through Ticketmaster Sweden, according to We Rave You.
There is a priority lane for one group of fans. Anyone who held a ticket for the cancelled Ullevi show on 28 August receives exclusive pre-sale access to the 2027 dates, according to DJ Mag and Sweden Herald, which carried the TT news agency report. We Rave You adds that the access arrives as a personal code for each of those ticket holders.
The shows also extend beyond the stadium. Across the run, the trio will host pop-ups, fan spaces and merchandise stores throughout Gothenburg, turning four gigs into a city-wide event.
The Thunderstorm That Cut a Night
This summer’s homecoming started as a single night. According to DJ Mag, the Ullevi show was first announced for 29 August only, and a second date on Friday 28 August was added because of demand.
That extra night never happened. The 28 August show was cancelled on the day because of severe thunderstorms, and the trio later issued an emotional statement about it, We Rave You reports. Outdoor stadium productions carry that weather risk, and it cost the group half of their planned run.
They tried to make it up to fans the next day. DJ Mag reports that Swedish House Mafia played a free open-air set at Götaplatsen on the afternoon of 29 August, ahead of the evening concert at Ullevi. Sweden Herald puts that crowd at a further 40,000 people.
A Night That Set a Nordic Record
The Saturday show sold out. Popzine reports an attendance of 65,972, the group’s largest concert in Sweden and a Nordic attendance record for electronic music. It adds that no other concert in Sweden this year, in any genre, had drawn a bigger audience.
It was also a long-awaited return. According to Popzine, the trio had not staged their own major stadium show at home for more than seven years, and the night was the first time Swedish fans saw their new 360-degree stage show, with the crowd surrounding the stage.
The setlist carried two personal moments. The show included a tribute to Avicii, with his 2011 single Levels played to a brightly lit stadium, and Ingrosso’s daughter, Melina, sang the first two verses of Don’t You Worry Child before hugging her father as the chorus dropped in, DJ Mag reports. John Martin sings on the original 2012 recording. The 2027 announcement followed 12 days later.
Why Gothenburg, in Their Words
The group’s statement explains the booking in emotional rather than commercial terms. Standing in Gothenburg, they said, they felt the scale, the energy and the connection, along with pride at being together on Swedish soil and hearing music that had travelled around the world come home through the crowd’s voices. That, they said, is why they are returning.
The version of the statement carried by We Rave You goes further. In it, the trio say they felt something in Gothenburg that they had not felt in a long time, that the run is not just another tour stop, and that four nights in one stadium is a story they could not tell anywhere else.
Got Event frames the four nights the same way. It describes an audience made up of people who first found the trio on the dancefloor, people who have followed them across continents, and people who have never seen them live, and says there is nothing more meaningful for the three of them than bringing people together in their home country.
The New Material Behind the Shows
The live announcement follows new music. Happiness Is So Sad, featuring the Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li, was released on 31 July through DANSA, according to DJ Mag. It was the trio’s first release of the year, following the previous summer’s single Wait So Long.
The track was road-tested before release. The group previewed it in June during their Ushuaïa Ibiza residency, and it was aired again during Ingrosso’s Tomorrowland Mainstage set, where Angello joined him to play it live.
DJ Mag describes the arrangement as built around melancholic piano chords, with atmospheric electronic textures under Lykke Li’s vocal. Max Martin and Oscar Holter contributed to the production, and the trio have described the collaboration as a Swedish Avengers crew.
It sits alongside a catalogue that already crossed into pop. The group’s 2022 album Paradise Again featured The Weeknd, Sting and A$AP Rocky.
A Busy Year Before the Stadium
The 2027 booking follows a heavy 2026 for the trio. At Ultra Miami they hosted a main stage takeover on the Saturday night with Afrojack, Boys Noize and Kelly Lee Owens among the guests, and the set included a reunion with Eric Prydz, DJ Mag reported. They also launched a merchandise collection inspired by the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The summer’s touring reached well beyond Sweden. Popzine describes the Ullevi homecoming as the high point of a run of headline arena and festival dates across Europe, and reports that more concerts are planned this autumn in Europe, the US and Asia. Ingrosso has also been busy on his own, recently releasing a single that samples Celine Dion’s 2002 song A New Day Has Come, according to DJ Mag.
Committing a whole European year to a single venue is a bold scheduling decision. For Swedish House Mafia, the room is a football stadium in their home country, and the four nights in July are the only chance European fans will get.
